Privacy Policy
Cooliris takes your privacy seriously. We will not share personally identifiable information1 about you. We, Cooliris, Inc., have designed software to provide free content streamed from the web and our content providers along with advertisements that are most interesting to you. To do this, we request some information from you and automatically collect other information about your usage of our services. While this allows us to offer you the best service possible, we understand the critical importance of personal privacy and want you to understand how we handle your personal information. This document outlines the types of information Cooliris Products (all products and services provided by Cooliris, Inc.) collect from the user and how we store and use this data.
Why We Collect Information
We collect information in connection with your use of Cooliris Products in order to improve and personalize your experience with Cooliris Products. In some cases, this information is also used to serve relevant and interesting content and advertising streamed through Cooliris Products. The types of information we collect from our users are described below.
What Information We Collect
- Registration Information: If and when you register for the Cooliris Service, we ask for basic registration information, such as your name, age, sex, likes/dislikes, a username and password, which you choose, and an e-mail address for Cooliris support. You may also enter in certain passwords and user names for third party sites and services. We use this information to suggest content, to deliver advertisements, to learn about our audience, including through non-personally identifiable statistics (e.g. percentage of male viewers aged 35-44), and to apply what we've learned to improve the service. We will not store your 3rd party credentials for any longer than necessary to complete the tasks stated above.
- Anonymous Data: When you use Cooliris Products, we may collect technical and navigational information, such as computer browser type, Internet protocol address, queries, and frequency and time spent in Cooliris Products and its components.
How We Use the Information We Collect
Cooliris only use usage data in aggregate form, that is, as a statistical measure to improve our product, and not in a manner that would identify you personally. As part of this use of information, we may provide aggregate information to our partners about how our customers, collectively, use Cooliris Products.
Cooliris may store information on your behalf to provide personalized services in Cooliris Products.
In connection with your use of Cooliris Products, we may install a cookie on your computer to help customize your experience in our Products, including our websites. A cookie is a piece of data from your browser that identifies you as a unique user. If you do not wish to have cookies set on your computer, you can configure your browser to refuse cookies. This however may disable certain services in Cooliris Products.
Security
We take many precautions to keep your personal information secure from unauthorized access, such as encrypted transmission between your computer and our servers and internal corporate policies to limit access to systems that store your personal information. We continue to store your personal information for so long as it is necessary to provide you our service and periodically destroy old personal information in accordance with our company policies, including when it is no longer essential to our ability to offer you the same high quality service. In most cases, we will keep one archival copy of your information to allow us to comply with laws or respond to legal processes.
Access to Personal Information
Cooliris allow you to access certain information about yourself for the purpose of viewing, and in certain situations, updating that information via our website. The types of information that you can access and update will change as our Products change.
Email Communication with Cooliris
Currently, Cooliris only sends you email on two occasions: (1) If you register with Cooliris, we will send you a Confirmation email to verify your email address so that someone else can't sign up with your email address. (2) If an existing Cooliris user chooses to send you a photo or video from within Cooliris by clicking the envelope icon and manually typing in your email address.
Cooliris reserves the right to send you email updates about product offerings from time to time if and only if the "Send me updates" box is selected when you register.
If you want to opt-out permanently from receiving Cooliris emails, click the opt-out link that is included at the bottom of every email we send out or write us at contact@cooliris.com.
Policy Changes
This effective date of this Privacy Policy is April 28, 2008.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will announce material changes on our company blog, at http://blog.cooliris.com.

1. Personally Identifiable Information (PII) - refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains. This includes information that is used in a way that is personally identifiable, including linking it with identifiable information from other sources, or from which other personally identifiable information can easily be derived, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, financial profiles, social security number, and credit card information. To the extent unique information (which by itself is not Personally Identifiable Information) such as a personal profile, unique identifier, biometric information, and IP address is associated with Personally Identifiable Information, then such unique information will also be considered Personally Identifiable Information. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (i.e., without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual. In terms of P3P attributes, personally identifiable information is 1) physical contact or location information, 2) online contact or location information, 3) government issued identifier, or 4) information about an individual's finances.
